Glossier: Haul + Mini Review
This past December I visited Glossier's showroom turned first retail location, and I have to say that I've fallen even more in love with this company than I've ever been. Studying marketing definitely makes you see retailers in a whole new light, and Glossier just wins the game.
When you first step off the elevator onto the fifth floor of Heaven, you're transported into this crisp, clean, pink skincare sanctuary. Just by being in the showroom you feel like a new you. You can walk around and try out all the products you've only ever seen online, but here's the best part...
All of the employees wear these little pink jumpsuits (lab gear). When you've decided what you want, you go up and tell the associate on the floor. She'll then write you a ticket (prescription) and direct you to the counter, where they keep their stock of products (medicine for your skin) for purchase. And you get your prescription filled! HOW. GENIUS.
Glossier founder and CEO, Emily Weiss, is truly admirable in her unique way of looking at beauty, skin first, makeup second. Anyone can give you that simple advice, but she has based an entire business around this concept and surprise, surprise, it has been nothing but a huge success. And to think it all started with a little blog called, Into The Gloss.
So. Now that I've rambled on about my infatuation with this company and the beautiful boss lady behind it, let's get into what I bought.
Perfecting Skin Tint in the shade "light"
First things first, this is not a foundation, it is a skin tint. Your freckles and beauty marks are meant to show through, it's meant to look like skin.
Something pretty cool about this product is that it's made with diamond powder. Yes, diamond powder, which gives a blurring, brightening, and poor-minimizing effect. So in other words, this product is just so much yes. It's also great because I'm not afraid to touch my face, or worried it will break up throughout the day. Another thing I'm not worried about is that my face won't match the rest of my body. Since this is a tint, it blends beautifully with your natural skin tone.
This tint is so great to just throw on with some bronzer, haloscope highlight and boy brow. It seriously looks like you're not wearing any makeup at all, it just looks like your skin is naturally perfect and it is so, so good.
Generation G in Like & Cake
THIS. At first, I was a little hesitant about buying this product. Is it a lipstick? Is it a lip balm? Is it a lip stain? Once I actually got the chance to try it on in person, I came to the realization that it was just simply Generation G. It glides on seamlessly, and leaves the lips feeling soft and moisturized. This product really just gives your lips a tint, but the colors are so gorgeous and natural. I love to just throw it on before I leave the house to run errands, and I've even worn it on a couple of dates.
I do have to warn you though, that it will probably break at the base. I ordered two, and they both broke, but they're still usable, still so beautiful and such a great product, so I honestly just don't care.
Fun fact: Glossier founder, Emily Weiss, wore Gen G on her wedding day!
Haloscope Highlight in Quartz
I could rant and rave about this product for pages, but I'm trying this new thing where I don't talk everyone's ear off. So, to keep this short, simple and sweet, you need this in your life. This product is offered in two shades, Quartz and Topaz, and yes, each product is actually made with either quartz crystal or topaz. How cool is that??
Also, the little white circle in the middle is a tiny stick of oil to add hydration and a bit more of a glistening effect to your highlight. It really is such a beautiful, natural, healthy, glowing highlight but I definitely don't recommend it if you have super oily skin. This product cannot be set with any kind of powder because it completely take away the shine, so this is definitely a product for dry to normal skin types.
This is the one product I use in every single skincare and makeup routine. I put it on as a moisturizer after I wash my face at night, and as a primer right before I apply my makeup in the morning. It works wonders no matter which purpose you're applying it for.
I love how soft and hydrated it makes my skin, which makes for a beautiful makeup application. I found that a lot of primers I've used in the past either dry out my face or really badly break up my make up throughout the day. Since this is a water-based moisturizer, it keeps my face hydrated throughout the day without getting oily.
Mega Greens Galaxy Pack Face Mask
There's nothing I love more than a good facial mask...(okay, there's a lot of things I love more, but facial masks are definitely up there). This mask has so many great ingredients:
leafy greens and white clay work to detoxify and protect the pores. Bitter orange peel works as a calming exfoliant. Avocado oil + aloe work together to moisturize and condition the skin. Last, but definitely not least, a vitamin- and omega-rich superfruit blend protect against cell damage.
So, in simpler terms, the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack deep cleans and gets all the junk out of your pores. I only use this mask once a week because using it too often can cause a little bit of irritation, and I always apply the priming moisturizer after rinsing it off.
Products next on the list to try out:
Stretch concealer to use with the perfecting skin tint
Moisturizing Moon Mask to use alternatingly with the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack
I've also been itching to try the rest of the Gen G shades
and after that I'm pretty sure I will be the proud owner of every Glossier product with the exception of the Black Tie Set.
No shame, whatsoever.
